- As for period cramps this medication worked great for me i had no side effects it just really worked, when my gyn put me on it the day of my yearly i had never heard of it,he gave me samples and a written prescription to last me til my next yearly appt,and then i asked for a refill he was hesitant and then said he would rather me take celebrex that the ponstel wasnt as well recommened so i was disapointed but i couldnt understand why he had given to me in the first place the year before i had never heard of it and didnt know anything about it,he said it was an old NSaid drug that had been around for many years and he wasnt really crazy about it being that there wer newer anti inflammatory drugs out. but again i couldnt understand why he had given me a years supply in the first place and then took me off of it??but sometime we never know why doctors do the things they do.
