Derived from the seeds of a slender annual plant, it is also known as linseed. Traditional medicinal uses include treating coughs, colds, constipation, and urinary tract infections. It has also been used as a topical demulcent and emollient. Flaxseed is a concentrated source of omega-3 fatty acids.
