- I'm a freelance writer with extensive healthcare experience. For several years, I wrote and produced monthly newsletters about MS and morbid obesity that were distributed to 50,000+ subscribers. At PatientsLikeMe, I am responsible for the ALS, MS, Parkinson's, Mood Conditions, HIV and fibromyalgia newsletters, which come out via email on or around the 15th of each month. A number of people have asked me how they sign up for the monthly newsletter. Or why they are not currently receiving it. The answer is that PatientsLikeMe community newsletters are optional email communications. You only receive them if you opt-in to receive them in your PatientsLikeMe account settings.
Not sure what your current settings are? Visit your Account page and scroll down to the Email Notifications section. You'll see Monthly Newsletters listed there. There will be a green check mark next to Monthly Newsletters if you have elected to receive them. If there isn't one, you can change your settings and opt-in for future newsletters.
If you DO have a green check mark, and you still are not receiving newsletters, check your spam/junk mail folder on or around the 15th of the month to see if your newsletter is ending up there. If so, you must mark PatientsLikeMe as a safe sender with your email provider so that future emails from PatientsLikeMe will not get caught in the spam filter.
