I am an author and former journalist who had spent 17 years in the radio and TV broadcasting field before MS forced me to abandon that career in 1999. I lived in Memphis with my wife, Melinda, but moved back to my home state of Iowa after she passed away in 2006. I have now remarried to a wonderful woman named Julie and we continue to reside in Iowa.

I have written a book on my experience and the death of my wife and it was published in June of 2011. The book is entitled A Tear-Stained Letter; Surviving multiple sclerosis and my wife's suicide. I used a wheelchair for four years before I started the MS drug Tysabri in November of 2006.

I am a Patient Advocate for BIOGEN and give speeches to MS support groups on behalf of Tysabri. I also give speeches to various suicide survivor support groups.
