Hi, I've always been very active--tennis, skiing, golf, yardwork, etc. Worked as an office manager for a major engineering/construction firm and retired in November of 2000. When my arms started to get weak, I kidded that I had over used them! This weakness started in about 1999, but was very gradual. When I couldn't lift my weights anymore is when I felt I had more of a problem. That was 2004. Finally got to a neurosurgeon and neurologist in late 2005 They diagnosed spinal stenosis and I had a cervical discetomy with fusion. It's just in 2008 that I have learned I have ALS.
