I'm a happy mom of 7 great children, ages 5 to 18. Since 2001 I have dealt with fatigue, swollen & aching joints, pain, psoriasis, & migraines. Lupus runs in my family, so when I was told in 2007 that I had psoriatic arthritis, I felt relieved. Little did I know what a nightmare this illness would be! In 2009, my rheumatologist diagnosed me with Fibro as well. Not a day goes by without aches, pains & fatigue. I find peace through prayer, acceptance of what I can & can't do, serving others & taking good care of myself. I have faith in God's purposes for allowing illness to be a part of my life.
Under the direction of my rheumatologist, I am currently off of my main treatment for psoriatic arthritis (methotrexate, an immunosuppressant). We are doing this to protect my immune system so that I can receive a set of immunizations for a trip to Ethiopia in spring 2011. My husband travels there often for his work, which is teaching the Ethiopians how to improve their agriculture and dairy industry. I am excited to have my first chance to go soon!
