I have severe refractory ADHD. I respond partially to treatment. Psychiatrist myself I know a lot of things about it. I am a rapid metabolizer which means I need unusually hi doses and frequently which scares many MD. An MD myself I was diagnosed for 20 years as biploar. Meds did not help since I am not bipolar but have ADHD.
Meds did help for ADHD but less now, so on my blog (listed in my bio) I discuss treatments that I or others have tried. I also put links to free resources and screening questionnaires.
