I received the MS diagnosis from neurologist 5/4/10. Lumbar puncture showed oligoclonal bands in spinal fluid. Multiple brain MRIs show 20+ brain lesions with one on brainstem; none on spine. New MS neurologist determined I have PRMS. I've had symptoms since winter 2007-08 with one clear exacerbation I'm aware of from Oct. 2009 - Dec. 2009. I had a bad virus with sinus infection in Feb. 2010 and was extremely fatigued & weak - took a long time to get over illness, (not sure if this would be considered an exacerbation.) Had high fever and unable to speak and walk - ended up in hospital and rehab facility in Nov. 2010 - diagnosed with viral encephalitis. Spinal MRI in March 2011 shows degenerative spine disease - awaiting more tests and neurosurgeon consult to determine any surgical intervention. Worsening ongoing symptoms are muscular pains & spasms in legs and buttocks, spasticity, constant fatigue, walking difficulty with right foot drop and balance problems; weak right hand; pain & weakness in left wrist and hand. Right-handed but use left to eat now, difficulty typing in afternoons. Really need to concentrate on swallowing & walking... Really miss hiking in back country. I use exercise bike and do stretches daily, but I'm losing ability to walk any distance. I have a wonderful wife of 18 years, a 16 year old boy & 14 year old daughter. I've worked in the aviation field for over 35 years, desk job now. I love fast cars and can still drive!
