I am 45, married, no kids (except 2 beautiful solid black german shephards). I just learned from my neurologist that I may have MS. She doesn't seem too concerned and will not order further testing such as brain MRI or LP since this is my first time with any symptoms. Spinal MRI looked OK. It could just be a virus?!? Started having numbness in my feet 3 weeks ago. It progressed each day to where now I have numbness (not totaly numb) symetrically up to the top of my hip. Reflexes OK. Walking fine. Above the hip I have almost total numbness on my left side front and back rib cage. Abdomen is tickly with numbness. I am thinking about a 2nd opinion and would like to know if it is MS for sure so can start treatment early as possible. I'm not comfortable to wait until numbness goes away (if it will) and then returns all the while wondering if I have MS. If this sounds familiar to anyone, I would like to hear your story. Also having mild versions of many other symptoms. Update: 3 months and 2 differrent nreuros later, dxed with transverse myelitis. Lumbar puncture positive for MS but only one lesion between T3 & T5 makes it TM. It will likely become MS with another exacerbation so I'm sticking with this PLM group, besides, I've grown quite fond of all of you. I have gained a wealth of info about symptoms and meds and even learned to stay positive and laugh at some of the things going on.
