After going to the doctor in May 2007, thinking I had osteoarthritis in one finger, the dominoes fell and I found myself at a neurologist's office in October being told I had ALS. My progression was slow the first two years (I think because I was diagnosed so early), but the pace picked up in early 2010. I retired in May from a job I loved and now spend my time writing, reading, and enjoying my new, quiet lifestyle. My family and friends are being strong and supportive--some better than others.
