I am a 58 year-old man living and working as a psychologist in Southern Illinois when not vacationing in Jamaica. My ALS was diagnosed 4/20/08, although left foot weakness and foot drop was evident by 2/15/07. The progression of my symptoms results in all but total weakness and paralysis of both legs, and some weakening of shoulder and trunk muscles. Fortunately, my speaking, swallowing, hand strength and dexterity, and spirits remain good. I am very grateful for the wonderful support I receive from my wife, my four children, my work family, my church, and ALSA clinic and research teams.
