I was diagnosed 2003.I started having problems walking, standing, putting socks/shoes on & dragging rt leg 1998. I worked as RN 12 hr shifts & kept telling DRs that I felt it was MS. They thought muscular. I got breast cancer & chemo so test were stopped. 2 mos after chemo had severe relapse. Drs started testing but tech who read MRI read it wrong (1999 & again 2000). 2002 read correctly but due to my vomiting Neuro didn't want to "label"MS. I had a brainstem lesion which caused the vomiting. Cleveland Clinic found it on MRIs. Had 6 lesions then. can track MS back to early 20's.
I am a MS Self Help Support group leader. I had to fight hard for SSD due to my age & education. I love hearing about other people & their triumphs or ways of dealing with what is going on in their lives. I had 4 kids. 2nd dtr died @ age 10yr. My neuro feels it may have been progressive MS as @ that time (over 26yrs) not have MRI to test. my youngest dtr MRI shows MS but her neuro doesn't want to "label" her as she is 25yr. My oldest dtr is ok & my son. I have 5 blood grandkids,3 adopted (extended family) & 1 stepgrandson.
