I first started having symptoms in sept 06 and after running blood tests, mri's, ekg's, thyroid tests and who knows what else the doctor came to the conclusion that nothing was wrong with me. Fast forward to April 08 I start having vision problems. I get a cat scan, more blood work and more tests and again it comes back nothing is wrong with you. By this time I am starting to think I am crazy. I took vacation at the end of October 08 and the last day I start getting a weird tingling sensation on the left side of my body and a horrible pain behind my ear....
I think maybe I have an ear infection. I can't get in to see my doc, so I go to urgent care. The doctor there tells me nothing is wrong with my ear and after telling him some of the past symptoms he suggests that maybe I need to be put on anti-anxiety meds, but I need to see my doc, as he won't prescribe them. I go to my doc (a new one by this time) and after I tell him what urgent care said he doesn't agree with that and wants another MRI done. I get a call the next day and am told I need to see a neurologist. Around this same time I lose the function of my left had, which sucked being lefthanded and all, and going back to work isn't an option at the moment. From that point on everything moved quickly. I had more MRI's, bloodwork, evoked response tests, and I'm sure some other stuff I'm not remembering at the moment. I got a week of solumedrol and the use of my hand started to come back. I got diagnosed in December, I have an awesome team of MS specialists and we started discussing treatment options right away. I decided to go with the alemtuzumab study, hoping that I wouldn't get randomized to the rebif, because I didn't want to do a lot of shots...Luckily I got the alemtuzumab and did the infusions in Jan 09.
Now a little about me personally....I'm divorced, have 2 children (DD8 and DS6), still work full time and can't seem to find time to have fun anymore. Yes that pretty much sums me up, I lead a pretty boring life, which is fine with me, I prefer to be at home more than anywhere else and everyone seems to think I'm weird for that!!
