I was diagnosed with ALS on Feb 23, 2009. My legs have dramatically atrophied in the past twelve months after years of running and playing basketball. I have fasciculations all day and night. My walking is limited to using a walker to get to the recliner, shower, bed or powerchair. I have a caring wife and two college age children. Everyone is kept up on my situation. My wife and I talk both calmly and with equal parts of gallows humor about how we'll handle the future. My mother died from bulbar ALS and she lived for 2 yrs. I was always thankful to have that time to say goodbye to my mom.
