- Over the past 4.5 years I've entered into this new phase of my life as an ALS PALS. My wife of 20 years of marital bliss and I learned that ALS doesn't just affect one single person, but the entire family and close friends. Our two wonderful teenage children are ages 16 and 14 have matured fast and are very supportive (yes they're wonderful).
