I have had essential tremor virtually all my life. I am a scientist. I took early retiremet in 2000 at age 56 since I could no longer do delicate experimental procedures because of my severe hand tremor. Three years ago I consulted with a neurologist about my hand tremors. He said that I might also have parkinson's. However, this neurologist said he cannot justify giving me an anti-parkinson's drug now since I respond so well to essential tremor drugs and do not have all of the usual symptoms of parkinson's. We are in a wait and observation period when he examines me every six months.
