This picture is my husband and me during our last cruise in April 2009. I am mother to 3 grown children, 4 grandchildren, 3 are grown and 1 is almost grown, she is 17, and 2 great grandsons.
I retired from grocery cashiering just before the onset of my first really noticeable symptom of ALS, that was in March of 2005. I am at peace with this disease and with dying! I am a real people person and love them all and life along with them. I will fight this disease with all I have in me!
Remember to do the same, all of you, OK! Love and Hugs, Carol (Muddling)
I am in my wheel chair all day and due to lack of exercise I began having Edema (water swollen legs and feet) we tried water pills, massage therapy, keeping legs elevated, nothing helped! Then came redness in the skin on legs and feet!! I began getting really sick and weakened to the point of having to be fed my food, I couldn't do it myself anymore! I learned that this redness in the skin of my feet and legs was called Weeping Edema, water and blood looking for a way out of my body! Well, my husband was looking through a sports catalog that he got in the mail and he saw what looked like Ladies Waders, and he decided to read about them! He brought it to me to see what I thought, but too sick to care, so he decided to order them and see if they were anything we might use, if not send them back! Well they arrived and my husband assembled them, next morning he put them on me and I wore them for just under 2 hours and had to do something else so took the boots off and the two of us just stared at my feet and legs, for the first time in months my feet were normal size and the red had become a brownish color! We could only say "Wow" and my husband said "I got my money's worth in only 2 hours"! The boots are non-medical and called Air Leggy and they fill up with air and then decompress over and over! After only 3 days I came back around feeling better than I did in months with this ALS! What a Miracle!!
