I am 53 years old and have had chronic migraines since I was 22. In 2001 someone saw me have a seizure and thus began the "which came first, the chicken or the egg?" So we think the two are tied into each other and that I was having seizures all along and didn't even know it. Married with 2 children and 4 grandchildren who are all healthy. One son who passed away and he had grand mal seizures that started when he was 13 years old.

I am basically healthy; however, I have had a lot of surgeries for one thing or another and it always seems that they tell me everything is routine and every single time I have complications because there is more there that is not showing up on x-rays or mri's. It's the same thing with my epilepsy. Every time I have had a brain scan or one of the other tests they have given me and I have had so many over the years that I don't remember what I have had done anymore (and all the medication that I have to take makes me forget things sometimes), everything looks fine. But it is obviously not fine because I have had several seizures and the last one was a grand mal, where I fell and broke a rib, got a concussion, and was out cold for 7 hours before I came to. I lost an entire day. That was the only grand mal seizure I have had. The other ones were much smaller.  I have two seizure alert dogs and one of them is with me at all times so that I can be forewarned so that I can make sure I don't hit my head on anything before I have one. If I didn't have them, I would have drowned in the swimming pool with the last one I had. I thank God that I have them.
