June 13, 2008-I am a 71 yr old male who began taking medications in August 2003 for treatment of Parkinsons. I was diagnosed with Parkinsons at age 66 by a neurologist and began medication (Mirapex) immediately. The primary cause for me to pursue a diagnosis was a newspaper story that mentioned that often folks with PD begin to talk more softly and their writing becomes smaller. I noticed my signature became smaller and less legible over the previous year, and my wife commented that I talked more softly (that I wasn't aware of) when speaking through a microphone during Sunday church service
