Married man in late fifties who has led a fairly active life through my employment but a bit of a couch potato in my private life. Was a smoker from the age of 14 but I gave up about 2.5 years ago through sheer will power. Downside is I put on 14lbs in weight. I'm trying to maintain a reasonable level of fitness and have recently joined the local gym and go hopefully 2/3 times a week. I'm no pumping iron type of guy - I do about 45 minutes on low setting of the cross trainer and then aim to do about 1km swimming in the pool.
