I was 17 during my 1st seizure in '03.I was having about 14-23 violent grand-mals a DAY.I was put on countless med 'cocktails'.I have a VNS,i got in(i think)2004.It was replaced a few years later&I have had countless PET scans,EEGs,EKGs,MRIs,ect...Then last yr I saw a doc&surgeon(only dr. that does this surgery in the USA) @ the AWESOME Cleveland Clinic.I decided to have a SEEG(brain surgery). They discovered i have seizures coming from every lobe of my brain&the 2nd surgery was not an option.Im now26@21pills daily.Docs still have no reasoning behind my seizures.I am still HOPEFUL 4 the FUTURE!
What i couldnt mention in the little 600 word Bio was in the hospital with those first seizures for 9 days. They had to somehow stop them, fast. Besides all the seizures meds, they put me on oxy 80s, zanax, ativan and well...i have no idea how long I was on those. I was a walking zombie. Someone would take me to the bathroom & help me shower and simply go. They next, at least, two years I do remember pieces from. But they are small pieces like walking down the hall or smoking a cig in the highschool bathroom with someone. I was required to alwasys have someone with me. The rest, I dont even know. I lost short & long-term memories. Such as Paragliding, going to Virginia Beach & even PARIS--> which i think was only 5-8 months before my seizures. I was there on a, I think, a 7 day trip! From looking at all the pictures it sure looked like I was having the time of my life. Wish I feel like I went. I even had to be in an Advanced Placement Euro History class to be offered to go on the trip. I had always done well in school. Hell! I was secretary of my class 2 years treasurer, 1 year and even VP 1 year. I was in Key Club, SADD, Foreign Language Club, Student Council for all four years of H.S & Pep Club the year we made it. I guess my grades were always pretty good. I was taking courses I didnt have to take. Math always came easy for me. I had taken Algebra 1-4, Geometry & Trigonometry. All i know for sure about my senior year is that by lunch each day I was picked up from school after a horrible seizure & usually had an 'accident' during. i was going insame being on those meds. I couldnt come up with words & think about what i wanted to say for so long i would forget what i was trying to think of.
wow, its late, so for now its
to be continued...
BTW---->I am having an average of 15 seizures a month now...still taking 21 pills at the time, not counting vitamins & I am living alone! My auras give me 5-10 seconds to find a place i can sit and be out of harms way. you just have to know how your seizures work i guess...
