Hello, my name is Michael Peterson. I am a 31-year-old male who was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes June 26th 2008. I was rushed to the hospital with DKA (Diabetic Ketoacidosis). Diabetic ketoacidosis is a complication of diabetes that occurs when the body cannot use sugar (glucose) as a fuel source because the body has no insulin or not enough insulin, and fat is used instead. Byproducts of fat breakdown, called ketones, build up in the body. Well I had lost 15% of my lean body muscle and became extremely sick. It is now going on year three of my having been diagnosed.
