Live with domestic partner in Bridgewater Township, NJ. That's in Somerset County in North-Central NJ. about 45 minutes from NYC. Official diagnosis was at age 49 on 9/23/03, Continued in my job until May 2005, began SS disability Nov. 2005, began Medicare Nov. 2007. My current PD issues for 2009 include dystonia, fractured sleep, diminished sense of taste and smell, timing my Carbidopa/Levadopa dose to NOT be absorbed by food in stomach, lack of stamina, problems with agoraphobia, claustrophobia, agitation.
I grew up in the 1950's-60's NJ farmland country and was heavily exposed to the pesticideChlordane from approximately age 7 - 12. Back then it was the "miracle of modern science" - who knew? (well, it turns out the Government knew all along, but that's another story) Also drank well water growing up. Family history is Alzheimer's Disease - both mother and father. Prior to my diagnosis I had travelled extensively throughout Asia for fun and adventure and I'm still trying to figure out if I can ever get back to doing that. Interests include reading, writing, NYC, museums, researching studies on the brain, anything Asian, foreign films, NY Times newspaper, contemporary culture.
