I am a 52 year old author with a cavernous angioma of the right temporal lobe, slightly overlapping the parietal lobe. I was diagnosed in 2007, even though I went my whole life having what we thought were low blood sugar fits. I take 2,500mg Keppra every day and still have visual aura's, olfactory aura's and absence seizures. My memory is horrible and I am a very nervous and emotional sort of person.

When I was young I always had problems with remembering things I was taught in class and was often sent home with notes from my teachers saying that I daydreamed a lot. At age 15 I started having shaking fits that prompted my parents to take me in to our family doctor. He gave me a 5 hour glucose tolerance test and decided I was hypoglycemic and I went the rest of my life until age 48 thinking this was the root of all my "fits". One night I remember feeling incredibly frightened and sick to my stomach and went downstairs to tell my husband and he told me to lay down on the couch. I awoke the first time in the front yard of our house feeling as if I was being abducted by aliens and scared to death, then I awoke again in the hospital with my husband and a doctor standing above me. I heard my husband say to the doctor "you better give her a shot of something before you tell her". I remember panicking not knowing what was happening and thinking I was dying, then it was lights out until the next morning when I awoke in a room with my husband sitting by my side. I had a grand mal seizure after I fell asleep and he called 911. They did 2 MRI's a cat scan and a test with lights flashing in my eyes. They found a 1cm cavernous angioma on the outer edge of the temporal lobe (above my right ear and right against my skull). At first my husband was suspect the minute they mentioned where it was because I was in a car accident in 1997 and they found the same thing then and thought it was due to the accident, but my neuro at the hospital after the grand mal said it has more than likely been there since I was born judging by my history of "daydreaming during school" bad memory, horrible headaches as a young child and strange tics that would cause me to throw things across the room or drop something. I also have been told by my family that when I am watching TV or at the computer, sometimes my jaw will drop and my head will droop down slightly and  I look as though I am falling asleep with my eyes open. Sometimes they get a reaction out of me when saying something to me, but most times they don't because I apparently don't hear them.
