im 28 married with 3 children. i have been registered disabled since 2005 with fibromyalgia, prolapsed discs and a damaged symphysis pubis. i am wheelchair bound and my husband is my permanent carer.
during my second pregnancy i developed symphysis pubis dysfunction which left me in a lot of pain n my level of mobility so low i had to use a wheelchair to leave the house but after the birth of my son i recovered very quickly. 18 months later i accidently became pregnant with my youngest son. from the beginning it was a worse pregnancy and i was told i had become pregnant too soon and my SPD had returned and they werent sure what long term damaged would be caused. my husband had to come out of work, i had to use pain killers and eventually spent the rest of the pregnancy in hospital before being induced at 36weeks. this time i didnt recover and it kept getting worse. after seeing every sort of specialist and all sorts of tests, it was discovered i had permanently damaged the symphysis pubis which is the muscle in the front of your pelvis. also i had damaged the L1 and L2 disc without even noticing. pain killers helped but i started to have other symptons- muscle spasms, constant tiredness, pain throughout my legs and lower back, aching constantly radiating throughout my lower body, stiffness. so more tests were done and eventually fibromyalgia was diagnosed - i was 21 and told i was young to have developed this but that the trauma the pregnancy had put my body through had triggered the condition. i now have an adapted house, wheelchair constantly and take handfuls of pills daily to keep the pain under control. despite this my children amaze me every day with their acceptance that mum cant play on the park with you or that mum has to stay in bed today. i have the most wonderful husband who gave a career as a pharmacist up for me, which has been very helpful with all the medications i have to take
