Single mother of 3, recently laid off due to "inability to sufficiently cope with personal issues while at work", soon to be full-time college student (again), simply trying to find some balance in my life and somehow find the strength to look forward to each day while living in chronic pain and fatigue, not having a single soul believe there's truly anything wrong with me, and never finding any answers from the many dr's I've seen thus far.
MS-type symptoms began in 2/08 after the birth of my 3rd child with bladder dysfunction. In 8/08, I began having sudden, unexplained seizures and after two inconclusive EEG's an MRI of the brain revealed an atypical lateral lesion in left hemisphere of my brain which "mysteriously" disappeared upon follow-up MRI 6 months later. At the time of the original MRI, I also had my first experience of O.N. w/severe hemorrhaging in my right eye. At this time, there was no suggestion or reference to anything such as MS. In 4/09, I began having severe pain in my knees & hips along with cramping and very unusual "twitching" sensations that I'd never felt before. I was prescribed pain medication and told to use a knee brace while working. When the "twitching" turned into spasticity and moved into my arms within just a few weeks, I spoke to a pharmacist (who was unaware of my medical history) and presented him with a hypothetical scenario of someone with my symptoms. His exact words were "it sounds strikingly like symptoms of MS". When I spoke to my doctor again and told him of all the symptoms and how they connected with those of MS, he immediately started working toward a diagnosis and getting a referral to a neurologist. I am still, unfortunately, in limbo-land but am thankful to have an understanding physician that does at least believe we are on the right track...we just simply haven't reached the destination yet.
