I first saw a doctor in December 2009 and received a preliminary diagnosis 5 months later - 1 month after turning 50. What a birthday present. I'm still working but dread the day I won't be able to continue. I work as a mining engineer at an underground silver/lead/zinc mine. One of the worst days for me so far was the day I realized I might be a safety risk, to myself or others, so I had to admit to myself that I could no longer go underground. I have a wonderful husband, a very supportive family and fantastic friends. It won't be easy but they'll help me through this journey.
