Christian
2Cor 12:7-10 For when I am weak, then I am strong.
My first sxs of MS showed up on Feb 2, 1988.
I was driving on the freeway (before cell phones) when I felt a jolt of electricty shoot from my left temple travleing down my left side to my toes. I pulled over as quickly as I could fearing I would die right there on the side of the freeway with 2 toddlers at home.
By the time I my car in 'park' and turned off the engine the sensation was gone, as quickly as it came. I got out of my car to stand up and see if I was 'okay'. I seemed to be fine. Until...
The next morning when I woke up I attempted to get out of bed. My left side would not cooperate. I was not numb... my brain kept telling me to move my arm, hand, leg, foot something.. Nothing happened. I was in a wheelchair for 6 weeks. No bladder control, not able to walk, pick up my boys. nothing. Then one morning I woke up, sat up in bed, stood up and walked to the bathroom as if nothing had happened.
Three months later, it happened again.
In 2004 I was "promoted" (LOL) from R/R to Secondary Progressive.
I have blood crossing the brain barrier due to the loss of myelin at my brain stem. I also have left brain atrophy. I am legally blind (20/400) in both eyes. (Can you be illegally blind?)
I live with or in spite of :-) Aphasia, dysphasia, clonus spasms, extreme fatigue, swallowing issues, and am in a wheel chair.
I was diganosed with Type 2 diabetes after several years of high dose soly treatments.
I think I despise the diabetes most.
MS I can accomodate, Diabetes has stolen my favorite foods from me :-)
I live in Las Vegas (not by choice). The heat is horrible. I am pretty much a recluse from May-October.
I would love to chat with others with MS, I would especially like to meet other Christians with MS to discuss faith and fear.
