What is Penicillin? Penicillins are a type of antibiotics; the major differences among the penicillins is the range of bacteria against which they are active. The broad spectrum penicillins are distinguished by their activity against gram-negative bacilli. Two broad spectrum penicllins are ampicillin, amoxicillin.

- Let the prescribing physician/dentist know if you have any allergies and also full disclose all medications including herbals. I had dental work in which this was prescribed as a preventative measure, and the pros and cons of this treatment were discussed. It was basically left up to me to decide if I wished to actually fill the script.
