- I usually take less during the daytime or none. I don't take it consistently at this point although since my symptoms have recently increased so has my tendency to take more of the xanax. I haven't been sleeping hardly at all at night after about 2 or 3 hours of sleep so yesterday, I asked my psychiatrist if if would hurt to try taking it at night. She said I could take it even 2x at night 4hrs apart if needed just to see if it could help me get some solid sleep. Work closely with your doctor with this medication. Mine never gives me refills when she gives me a script, just to keep tabs.
