What is Amlodipine Besylate? Amlodipine is a type of medication called a calcium channel blocker, which works by slowing the flow of calcium ions into smooth muscle cells. It is used alone or in combination with other medications to treat high blood pressure and chest pain (angina); comes as a tablet taken by mouth once a day.
