What is Epoetin (Erythropoietin)?

Epoetin is a synthetic version of the hormone erythropoietin (EPO), which stimulates production of red blood cells in the bone marrow. Epoetin is used in the treatment of anemia resulting from kidney failure or chemotherapy treatment for cancer.
