- My dad was diagnosed with ALS in August 2007 at the age of 62. I am an only child and very close to both of my parents, who are both absolutely incredible. My dad has kept up a positive attitude and a determination to enjoy every minute with his family and friends. My husband's family has also been so helpful and supportive. In January I joined with Humberto-From-Brazil to run a patient-lead effort to research lithium and ALS (http://alslithium.atspace.com) . Our project is now in official collaboration with PLM. I also work as a geophysicist and as a mom to baby Emmet, born on Nov. 4.
