Caregiver PatJ andyjwx andyjwx I am a caregiver to my husband. He has known about his Parkinson's since 1992. He is doing very well on his meds right now after a rough period of about 9 months where he experinced many falls. We were lucky that he was not hurt - no broken bones or injuries during that period. He is participating in a drug study for a drug that evens out his on/off times and is working well for him. I look forward to offering and receiving support in this group. Icon_message

Caregiver azkaren     I am a caregiver for my husband, Bob, who has had PD since 1999. In the last 3 years, he has developed dementia, and that is really his main problem now. Most of the time he is pretty mobile. We live in a suburb of Phoenix, and have been married 35 years. We have a son who lives in Seattle and our daughter and her family live here in Phoenix. Caregiver Doctor's helper Doctor's helper     Although I'm sure here's little others haven't experienced. It changed our lives. Although I'm an American citizen, I am a permanent resident of Zaragoza, Spain. We live in an appartment on the first floor, but not the street level floor. Here's an elevator where the wheelchair will not fit without disassembly; however we both use the stairs easily, for now. The principal remaining signs of Parkinson's Disease (Dec 2004) & the Thrombosis (May 2005), is the mini pharmacy in the top drawer in the kitchen. And secondly, the multiple alarms programmed in an old mobile telephone. Icon_message

Caregiver smile525     I work part-time as a secretary at a monogramming service. My husband is retired and was diagnosed with Parkinsons in 2005. We have one son that helps us a lot! Looking forward to sharing concerns with other caregivers and hopefully find some new ways to handle everyday challenges. My husband sleeps a lot! He drools and is having more trouble getting up and down. He needs help dressing, but for the most part has a very good attitude. We try to walk at the mall, but his energy level is very low. He has some dementia, trouble with vision and difficult to understand when he talks. He is 66. Icon_message
Caregiver spacesoon spacesoon     I'm currently a graduate student, living in a different state from my parents, but my Father has Parkinson's Disease, and when I am at home, I serve as a caregiver to help out my Mother. I returned home shortly after my Father was first diagnosed, in order to take a major role in his care, so I am familiar with the disease, it's effect, and the care required. Icon_message
