What is Demerol? DemerolĀ® is a brand name for meperidine, an opioid analgesic agent that is administered orally or by intramuscular injection. It is used for moderate-to-severe pain; for preoperative sedation. Off label it is used to reduce postoperative shivering and rigors from amphotericin.
