What is Lidocaine?

Lidocaine is a local anesthetic. It works by stopping nerves from sending pain signals. Lidocaine comes in a variety of preparations including liquid, cream, gel, lotion, spray, transdermal, injectables and infusions. Some are over the counter and others require a physician's prescription.
