What is Hyoscyamus niger?

Hyoscyamus niger, or henbane is a plant in the family solanaceae. It was historically used in combination with other plants as an anaesthetic potion, as well as for its psychoactive properties. Hyoscyamine, scopolamine, and other tropane alkaloids have been found in the foliage and seeds.
