Advice/Tips
Neurontin has helped me sleep some. The first week I took it I felt right to sleep. After that, it stopped working. When I started taking Neurontin with Benedryl the two worked together at putting me to sleep. Sometimes the combination and sometimes it does not. I also use this medication as a back up for not having seizures. Look, I'm a college student. I want to be able to go out and drink like other college students. Because I am taking more anticonvulsant medication the alcohol will likely not effect me as much as it would have without the Neurontin. Even though drinking now is for me just being part of a college student the original reason was for sleep. For approximately a year I was drinking two shots of vodka every night just to go to sleep. Neither my neurologist or psychiatrist approved of this at all because of how it could affect my mood and my seizure activity. After I tried everything that my insurance company would cover just to go to sleep and then to have all of it stop working or have too bad of side effects to handle, my psychiatrist last resort was just trying to protect me from having a seizure and added more anticonvulsant to prevent them.
