What is Cognitive therapy?

Cognitive therapy refers to a form of psychotherapy which tackles specific thoughts or "cognitions" that may be unhelpful. It forms a large component of another widely known therapeutic system, "Cognitive-behavioral therapy", although the terms are often interchangeable.
