What is Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) test?

Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) antibodies test may be ordered when a patient has symptoms suggesting mononucleosis; to help evaluate susceptibility to EBV infection; to distinguish between an EBV infection and another illness with similar symptoms.
