What is Nicotine?

Nicotine is an addictive substance in tobacco products. As the active ingredient in smoking cessation aids (gum, nasal spray, transdermal patch, inhaler and lozenge) it is used for the relief of nicotine withdrawal symptoms. Off label transdermal application is used to manage ulcerative colitis.
