- I'm 54 yrs. old Currently unemployed. My company closed and as I was looking for work my mother kept getting worse & worse. I'm a single parent of 4 terrific kids. And I'm not good talking about myself.

My mother is 79 yrs old. She started having trouble with her legs last summer.Saw her doctor, was sent for some xrays & a few other tests & was told it was probably a combination of her Arthritis and her multiple bad discs.As she kept getting worse I convinced her to switch doctors.By Sept. she was walking with a cane but still going to work every day. A new round of tests started.By the end of Nov. she went from a cane to a walker to a wheelchair.Now a new neurologist.She had surgery on her spine in Feb. and was diagnosed with ALS the end of April. She has no use of her legs now and it seems to be progressing rapidly.I'll be scouring the boards for tips & hope.
