About Me
Although I'm sure here's little others haven't experienced. It changed our lives. Although I'm an American citizen, I am a permanent resident of Zaragoza, Spain. We live in an appartment on the first floor, but not the street level floor. Here's an elevator where the wheelchair will not fit without disassembly; however we both use the stairs easily, for now. The principal remaining signs of Parkinson's Disease (Dec 2004) & the Thrombosis (May 2005), is the mini pharmacy in the top drawer in the kitchen. And secondly, the multiple alarms programmed in an old mobile telephone.

More about me

PD changed our lives. I grew up in central Ohio went to college in south Florida and entered the Airforce during the Viet Nam buildup. I served at several bases in the States and in central and northern Spain with various visits to some other places, London, Sardinia, Tokio etal. After nearly 25 years' service I left the Airforce for a sales job with Sears, Roebuck and Company at their store in Omaha Nebraska. During my first assignment in Spain Paqui and I married. She was born in Seville, Spain and is somewhat although not much older than I. Together we raised five children, four boys and a girl. When our youngest was killed in an industrial accident we went through a life-changing experience. Our home was suddenly even more empty; all the children had married and were not around the house often. And then with the tremendous loss of our youngest we found it too much to continue in that house. We had already been talking about moving to Spain long before the funeral but that appears to have been the turning point. Shortly aftward we took a mini-vacation to Spain with a friend who has family in Zaragoza. I'll page forward a few years here. As a result of our decision to move to Zaragoza I applied for and was granted permanent residence. We both have started recieving Social Security payments. And as residents of Spain we have privileges for medical services in Spain. Although I use a lot of health information found on the internet I naturally rely on my primary care physician and the local health services. In September Paqui started complaining of a slight shakeyness to her left hand. In December she was diagnosed of syndromes of Parkinson's Disease and still with no medications prescribed. Between then and the first of April things got much worse and very rapidly. <<more>>
