About Me
My background is in nursing, I specialised in palliative care after broad experience in areas of oncology, cardiac and general medical. I joined the ALS/MND team at King's College Hospital in 2000 and thoroughly enjoy the Coordinator role within the team. It is a varied role that brings together many different professionals to work together in supporting people living with ALS/MND. I look forward to meeting people through the site and learning what issues are important to individuals and the community as a whole. Please feel free to contact me directly by email; ewilley@patientslikeme.com

More about me

My particular skills lie in exploring issues with the individual and families. I have learned that speaking the unspeakable can be painful yet can ultimately bring enormous relief. I believe uncertainty and lack of knowledge are obstacles to living life as fully as possible and helping fight the challenges of chronic disease.

My role at PLM:

  • Signposting or directing to relevant services, information resources, support

  • Facilitating contact within the community to empower users

  • Encouraging activity on the site and sharing of experiences, information and ideas

  • Suggesting what might be useful to discuss with your healthcare team in response to issues that are highlighted, although I cannot give direct treatment advice

  • I will be working with Paul Wicks and the rest of the team in responding to your ideas and suggestions in developing the site, including the recently added areas for MS and PD to make them as user friendly, informative and supportive as possible

I look forward to facing the challenges alongside you,

Emma Smile
