About Me
Michael P. Massagli, PhD (University of Wisconsin-Madison, Sociology, 1984) joined the PatientsLikeMe team in June 2007. I'm a sociologist and social statistician. My previous research has focused on survey methods and measurement of health outcomes and patient experience of care, looking, for example, at factors affecting the quality of survey data, employment experience and health-related quality of life of persons with AIDS, impact of trauma on mental health and physical functioning in refugee populations, and patient perceptions of health care quality.

More about me

PatientsLikeMe users sometimes have the impression that I am a patient in their community.  I am not.  So far as I know, I do not have any of the conditions for which we currently have communites.  But I have spent more than the past 10 years working with organizations that have focused on improving the patient-centeredness of health care.  These include The Picker Institute, Harvard Program in Refugee Trauma, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and now, PatientsLikeMe.
