My road to PatientsLikeMe has been an adventure in many areas of the healthcare arena. As the eldest child of two pediatricians, I enrolled in college fully intent upon following in their footsteps...until I saw that I would have to take Biology, Chemistry, and Calculus all at the same time! I decided to major in Finance instead (which seemed infinitely easier than hard sciences), but I never forgot my deep interests in healthcare.
In 2003, I helped my father, a pediatric pulmonologist, launch Not One More Life, a nonprofit asthma education program. Not One More Life’s mission is to partner with communities of faith to provide health literacy and free lung function testing to help reduce the vast disparities in health outcomes between inner city ethnic groups and the broader population.
Later I joined Navigant Consulting in their healthcare practice, working on both managed care litigation and in hospital turnaround projects for financially distressed health systems. I spent some time in the business development department of a specialty hospital in Atlanta, worked in patient assistance programs at Genentech, and in a commercial role at Novartis in their multiple sclerosis franchise. Finally I found my way to PatientsLikeMe, where I can really leverage my passion for health and my industry experience to the benefit of the community.
Besides healthcare, I love international travel, wine and cuisine, reading, bikram yoga, and spending quality time with my friends and family.
I hold a B.S. in Finance and International Business from Georgetown University and an M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School.
