I have had epilepsy all my life, which was misdiagnosed as hypoglycemia for a long time, because long blood sugar seemed to be the only reason for my seizures. As a young child, I was frequently hospitalized.
By third or fourth grade, my seizures seemed to be controlled with Dilantin and diet. They remained that way all the through high school and I have always been very successful academically.
Then, the seizures resumed early in my freshman year in college and have continued ever since. Fortunately, I was able to finish college, receiving a BA in International Relations and in Economics. I then continued to grad school, earning a MA in Political Science although I could not continue in class to earn the credits, but able to get them by writing a thesis.
Despite a variety of treatments, including a temporal lobectomy, the VNA, and many meds, my seizures continue, thirtytwo years later. As a result, I have been unable to get a job, travel or live on my own, or marry. Fortunately, I still live with my parents, who support and care for me. I always try to help them as much as possible.
Although unable to get a job, I am working to become a professsional writer, of both prose. One of my poems was published a literary magazine as a result of a contest, and a couple of historical essays on naval history are part of a web site.
My interests are current international affairs, maritime and naval history, reading, and writing.
