About CatLoverHemet

I was first diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure in 2003 when my EF was already down to 10% and was not expected to live much longer. I hung in there and in June 2006 I received a pacemaker/defibrillator, which cause a 100% block shortly after that and even though my EF got up to 25% for little while, it went down to about 10% again by the middle of 2008. In September 2008, my cardiologist sent my chart to Loma Linda Universty and I got an appointment with the transplant team and was accepted into the prgram and by December I was on the transplant list. In March 2009, I got worse.

More About CatLoverHemet

I was in the ICC 3 times that month and also got a picc-line which had to be changed due to a bloodclot into the arm with the pacemaker/defibrillator. On May 07 my home care nurse called the transplant team and reported that I looked very sick. She was told to call 911 and I was taken to the local ER. It turned out that apparently nothing was wrong so I was sent home. The next day I received a call from the transplant team to come for a clinic visit on May 12 at 8 AM. The night before I received a call to stop taking coumadin since I might be an alternate for a heart. I went to my appointment next day and was on my way to my car when the nurse came running after me and told me to come back because they had decided to switch and give me the heart where I was the alternate because the other patient was better off and they were afraid I was not going to make it home alive that day. So, at 11 PM that night I was taken into the OR and woke up on May 13 with a new heart. The other patient received a heart 5 days later and we met in the clinic one day and were introduced. My heart is from a 35-year old man, but that's all I know.  I went back to work on May 01, 2010 and am very happy to be alive and wake up every morning thankful top be still here.
