About Tomte

I retired on disability from teaching a year ago. I just didn't have the energy to do the job anymore. Teaching is demanding, there is no down time during the day. I loved my job and was worried I would miss it. I have been surprised to discover how busy I stay and how much I enjoy my new life. Now my days are filled with sewing, photography and volunteering but at my pace. I have been able to build lots of exercise into my schedule which has really helped. I just finished 3 months of tandem cycling, based on the studies at the Cleveland clinic. Wonderful! I plan to start again in the fall.

More About Tomte

I have a wonderful husband of 28 years who is very supportive. I also have two beautiful daughters ages 23 and 26. The younger one just graduated from college in elementary education and is job hunting. The older one is at law school at Stanford.

I love to garden, I call my garden my summer class. I love travel, reading, cooking, and quilting. I love taking pictures of flowers and I also love fooling around on my computer.

Now that I am not working I am able to exercise every day and feel much better because of it. Exercising regularly really helps control some of my symptoms. I have recently added the Wii to my exercise options and am pleased with the ease of exercise it provides.
