You never know where any path will lead you until you start. My company produces Irish Calligraphy and yet I flunked penmanship in the third grade. I work with the Irish language, yet I flunked Latin and French in High School. Also I was so bad with plants that I actually killed a plastic plant [left it too close to my coal stove]. Nothing is impossible.
Early symptoms of MS cut my dreams of becoming a Pharmacist short by interfering with my ability to concentrate through the last year of MCP.
Later symptoms of numbness and exhaustion in my legs and arms led to my going on disability.
In 1986 at the age of 31 I was diagnosed with MS [multiple sclerosis] It left me living on disability to support my wife and 2 young children.
Refocusing on other people who were going through the same or worse things and trying to help them really helped me to pull through. I had two close friends one had a stroke and the other was involved in a horrific accident that took his legs. I dug into the bible and found all the positive encouraging scriptures I could find and concentrated my mind on them and my friends. This led to seeing my and their circumstances through different eyes and really led to a life changing “paradigm.” Later on I pulled all these together on my company website http://www.pc-min.com pc min is short for Physically Challenged Ministry [separate from organized church] so we avoid all the baggage that drives people apart and are able to bring people who happen to have a “physical challenge” together.
My wholesale company First Impressions, http://www.irishbless.com was born out of difficult circumstances. It came about by taking what was given to me and running with it. I started creating and selling Irish Blessings in 1989 I had several friends give me some things to keep me busy with plants and flower presses, well one thing lead to another and before long a little company was born that supplies Irish and Religious retailers with Irish Blessings.
